Identity Politics Take on New Meaning After First Contact
Subhuman Sanctum: First Civilian Contact graphic novel written by Blake Ju Chen & illustrated by P.R. Dedelis

Think you know where you stand on the issue of migrants and foreigners? Don’t be too sure. After First Contact, most of us will be re-evaluating our stance on borders and freedom of movement.

The term “alien” will take on a whole new meaning as the cosmos suddenly will have expanded a trillion-fold. The human race, from our Earthling perspective, will no longer be divided by color but, instead, by planetary origin – once the truth is made known that as well as other species of intelligent life, different human races exist throughout this galaxy and beyond.

The above panel is from Subhuman Sanctum: First Civilian Contact, a graphic novel I wrote with art by P.R. Dedelis. The conversation depicted seems relatively commonplace, but takes on a different meaning when you know this comic is about alien human hybrids attempting to fit into Earth society.

Such conversations in real life will undergo a similar redefinition after First Contact.
