It is challenging enough to always love thy neighbor when dealing with just our fellow humans. What happens when Earth joins the spacefaring galactic community and different species of NHI (non-human intelligence) become regular visitors to our planet?
Some of these species may even decide to settle here, the same way Earth humans entertain the idea of setting up colonies in other worlds. No doubt conflicts will arise, as they often do when people from different cultures choose to co-exist. It is the way such conflicts are resolved that reflects the maturity of a species, and we the people of Earth have many lessons to learn of this nature.
What is clear is that many of our galactic neighbors feel we are ready to begin.
